Moon Glow

A garden at night is a magical place, full of shadow and mystery with surprises down every path. I love the big illuminated moon near the frog pond and the lovely glow it casts over that part of the garden. I have captured this feeling using the leaves and flowers from the gardens. The colors and shapes of the different plants reflect the diverse nature of each section of the garden. This piece is created with natural plant dyes and botanically imprinted on silk satin through a mordanting and steaming process. The texture of the barn wood invokes the rough tree barks while the silk pays tribute to the velvety texture of the flower petals.
